When the Kimberley Dynamiters left the John Bucyk Arena in Creston on Saturday night there were two heart breaking thoughts on their minds. One, they just lost an Overtime game in which they play very well for over 62 minutes. And two, one of their team-mates was injured blocking a shot late in the third period.
Travis Ludwar's second goal of the game at 2:59 of the first overtime period sent the Thunder Cats faithful home with a 2 games to none advantage in the best of seven Eddie Mountain Division Semi-Finals. Ludwar had opened the score for the home team at the 8:54 mark of the second period on the powerplay.
The Nitros battled hard all night in what was their best game so far in the series. 20 year old veteran J.T. Ward tied the game up for the Dynamiters converting a Mike Nelson pass at 7:04 of the third period.
Goaltenders Tory Caldwell of the Dynamiters and Sunny Gill of the Thunder Cats were outstanding in goal for both teams. Caldwell made 28 saves on the night, while Sunny Gill stopped 40 in a winning effort.
#8 Thierry Martine
The Nitros were dealt a huge blow when diminutive forward Thierry Martine dropped to block a shot from Colton Grolla late in the third period. Martine was hit in the face. Early reports are that Martine lost as many as five teeth and possibly damaged a couple of others. Not to mention the injuries associated with the impact.
The players rallied to try a secure a victory for Thierry, but came up just short.

Game three of the series will take place at the Civic Centre in Kimberley on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre Box office.

Kimberley Pipe Band
The Kimberley Pipeband has had the prestigious honour of being invited to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo which takes place in late June and early July of this year.
This is a once in a life time trip as it is the 100th Annivrsary of the Royal Canadian Navy.
The band to date is the largest it had ever been with 30 active members. The Pipeband is currently on a Fundraising drive to ensure all members who wish to go can. We are selling raffle tickets on a Arctic Cat Side by Side Quad which will be raffled on March 17th, 2010.
The Kimberley Dynamiters are giving us an opportunity to sell these tickets at the first playoff home game on Monday, February 22nd. The Pipeband will also be entertaining at the game.
Please help our band get to Halifax.

A reminder to all of you with "Open Tickets" for the 2009 - 2010 Kimberley Dynamiters KIJHL Regular Season home games WILL NOT be accepted for the 2009 - 2010 KIJHL Playoffs.
The Big Bang Progressive 50 / 50 DRAW
The draw was made in front of a pretty good Sunday evening crowd at the Kimberley Civic Centre. The winner of the draw was Brent Spice of Calgary.
Thank to everyone for supporting our draw. It was very exciting!
